ATLANTA, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Assurant Solutions, whose companies underwrite extended service contracts sold through CompUSA, Inc. stores, today announced that it intends to fulfill all of its obligations to CompUSA customers who purchased its extended service contracts.
CompUSA's Technology Assurance Plan (TAP), the extended warranty service purchased by customers for their personal computers, will be fully honored by Assurant Solutions, which has been a service partner of CompUSA for several years. If customers under this plan do not have repair issues, no action is required on their part. Additionally, Assurant Solutions said that CompUSA will announce shortly a special-purpose Web site to provide consumers with up-to-date information related to extended services and its other customer service programs, including the retailer's policies with respect to gift cards, rain checks, rebates and other customer service programs. Relevant 800 numbers and hyperlinks will be posted to the Web site to assist with customer inquiries.
Assurant Solutions said that in response to an increased amount of customer inquiries, Assurant Solutions and CompUSA have made arrangements to temporarily increase the call-handling capacity of their call centers.

Gordon Brothers Group has initiated an orderly wind-down of CompUSA's retail store operations and is engaged in discussions with various parties regarding the sale of certain assets. CompUSA's retail stores will remain open and staffed during the holiday season, and will offer consumers attractive bargains on computer and electronic products as part of store closing sales.
