Local supporters of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul rallied Sunday from 11am-1pm near the Jonesville WalMart, distributing literature and yard signs to undecided voters.
With two days remaining until Michigan's January 15 presidential primary election, area supporters hope to boost the 10-term Texas Congressman Ron Paul's support in Hillsdale and the 7th congressional district.
Congressman Paul is already the leading choice among Hillsdale voters, according to a poll conducted by the Hillsdale Daily News. With 24 percent of the vote on the Republican side, area supporters are hopeful that the pro-Constitution, anti-NAFTA Congressman Paul will win big on January 15.
"Dr. Paul's grassroots support in Hillsdale is outstanding, said Paul Michigan state coordinator Leslie Roszman. "With more grassroots activity than any other presidential campaign, we are confident that our Hillsdale volunteers' efforts will result in a high voter turnout for Ron Paul on January 15.
Congressman Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who has neither voted to raise taxes nor for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted to raise congressional pay, and returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the US treasury every year. Furthermore, as a staunch advocate of the Constitution he has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership, and voted against the Patriot Act.
