AT&T Announces a Contribution of $50,000 to Junior Achievement to Support Business-Education Competition in Latin America

MIAMI, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. has announced a $50,000 contribution to support Junior Achievement in the development of its business-education competition entitled "The Second Latin America Competition of Business Decision-Making Program, Latin Entrepreneur" to take place in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.

The purpose of this competition is to support the development of future business leaders through hands-on training with software that simulates market conditions and provides students with experience in operating a company and the elements of the decision-making process that go with it.

More than 1,500 students will participate during the second quarter of 2008 in the competition, which is to be carried out through the Internet using the Management and Economic Simulation Exercises software. This software program replicates marketplace trends and conditions as they are influenced by the decisions made by the participants in the competition. Throughout the process, the participating students begin to learn how the market works and get firsthand experience of situations that can present themselves in the real-life business situations.

Latin American students with a moderate to high level of business knowledge will have the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned in school, to understand how technology can be used as a study tool, to develop their decision-making abilities and to encourage teamwork and the development of strategies through means of Business Simulations.

"Junior Achievement is thankful for our relationship with AT&T, which will allow us to continue to bring this useful experience to young students so that they understand the economics of life," said Jaime Santibanez, executive director of Junior Achievement in Mexico. "This contribution will help us provide our young people in Latin America with a greater understanding of the opportunities the business world can bring to their future."

"AT&T recognizes the key role that Junior Achievement plays in preparing young people to be the future business leaders and is pleased to support Junior Achievement's efforts and commitment to influence the lives of young Latin American students," said Andrea Messineo, vice president of AT&T for Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America.
