LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- To usher in the Chinese Year of the Rat, Verizon will join the festivities at the San Gabriel Valley Annual Lunar New Year Parade and Festival in Alhambra and San Gabriel on Saturday (Feb. 16).
It could be a very good year for three lucky families. Verizon is giving away three entertainment systems from LG: an HDTV, an HD DVD player and a surround sound system. Attendees can register at the Verizon booth to win.
"Verizon is pleased to be back at this Lunar New Year Parade celebration," said Amber Chang, manager of Asian marketing for Verizon. "As a broadband and entertainment company, we think it's just right to celebrate the day by giving three lucky people who stop by the Verizon booth one of three entertainment systems that would work great with their Verizon FiOS or DIRECTV service."
The Verizon booth will be located on Valley Boulevard, between Garfield Avenue and Almansor Street. Visitors to the booth can learn about the company's most popular services or play games to win some other prizes. Verizon specialists who speak Chinese will be on hand to provide assistance and explain current promotions.
Winners of the raffle will be announced at the end of the festival, and the prizes will be shipped to the lucky winners.
Jeff McFarland, director of multicultural marketing for Verizon, stated, "Verizon is a long-time supporter of the Asian community, and we are proud to support it and to maintain our close ties."
The Alhambra Chamber of Commerce established the annual Chinese New Year celebration in 1991 with a vision to promote Asian culture. The parade has grown from a humble street festival to a major event encompassing the San Gabriel area. Today, the event features cultural entertainment, food, exhibits, arts and crafts, games, and much more. The 17th Annual Chinese New Year Festival expects more than 50,000 attendees.
Verizon is proud of its part in the Asian community. Verizon features Chinese-language Web sites that cater to the company's Chinese customers around the country. For over a decade, Verizon has had sales representatives to support customers who speak either Mandarin or Cantonese, Korean and Vietnamese. Today, more than 1,000 employees staff 13 Verizon consumer multicultural sales and solution centers in various parts of the U.S., all of them communicating with customers in their native languages.
