EVANSVILLE, Ind., Feb. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Vectren Corporation Board of Directors Wednesday approved a management reorganization that increases focus on conservation and sustainability.
"Our vision is to balance the social, economic and environmental factors with the need to deliver effective energy solutions for our customers," said Vectren Chairman and CEO Niel C. Ellerbrook. "We have taken the opportunity to further strengthen our team to help ensure long term success for our customers and shareholders."
The recent retirement of Doug Karl, vice president of sales and marketing, and increased focus on conservation helped drive the change. Effective March 3, L. Douglas Petitt takes over as vice president of marketing and conservation where he will lead marketing programs, economic development and customer relationships as well as a group to enhance the Conservation Connection programs and manage Vectren's brand. Jeffrey W. Whiteside increases his responsibility as the vice president of external affairs and sustainability. In addition to leading corporate communications, government and environmental affairs and Vectren's foundation, Whiteside will be charged with looking at how current business practices and plans will impact the future of all stakeholders. He will guide strategic decisions on the economic, environmental and community impact Vectren has throughout its service areas.
"Customers, employees and shareholders should see this as a continued shift in our company's philosophical approach which effectively began with Vectren's natural gas conservation initiatives and will include the development of new electric conservation programs," Ellerbrook said. "We will continue to focus on our responsibility to be good environmental stewards and leaders in customer programs to help reduce the impact of rising energy prices."
Ellerbrook remains chairman and CEO and Carl Chapman remains president and chief operating officer. No new vice presidents were added in this reorganization announcement.
