C&D Technologies will supply batteries from its new, state of the art manufacturing plant in Shanghai, China.
The 91,000 seat Olympic stadium, also known as the 'Bird's Nest,' a name reflecting its unique architecture, was designed by Herzog & DeMeuron of Switzerland and the China Architecture Design Institute. Construction started in December 2003 and is scheduled for completion in March, 2008. The stadium will host the opening and closing of the 29th Olympiad, as well as track and field, soccer and other events. In addition to its stunning appearance, the stadium is known for its extensive use of renewable energy and other conservation systems that will minimize impact on the local environment.
