SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., April 7, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation today announced it has been awarded the Landsat Data Continuity Contract (LDCC) by the Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, to provide comprehensive technical support to the program. This prime, single-award contract has a one year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total value of more than $21 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed at SAIC's LDCC Development Facility in Sioux Falls, S.D., in support of the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center there.
The Landsat Program is a series of Earth-observing satellite missions jointly managed by NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey. Since 1972, Landsat satellites have collected information about Earth from space. Under the contract, SAIC will support the collection, processing, distribution analysis and archival of this information. SAIC will also provide project management, programming, and systems and software engineering services.
