HOPKINTON, Mass., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- EMC Corporation , the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced that the company's proxy materials for its 2008 Annual Meeting of Shareholders are now available via the Internet under the Securities and Exchange Commission's new Notice and Access rule.
The new Notice and Access rule allows companies to furnish proxy materials to shareholders via the Internet as an environmentally-friendly alternative to the traditional delivery of printed materials. Instead of receiving paper copies of the proxy materials, many of EMC's shareholders of record will receive a notice in the mail which contains instructions on how to access the company's proxy materials and vote electronically over the Internet.
EMC is encouraging shareholders to utilize this new process for easy access and prompt delivery of their proxy materials and to help the company reduce printing costs and conserve natural resources. By delivering EMC's proxy materials over the Internet, EMC plans to reduce the number of printed copies of its proxy materials by approximately 90% from last year.
Shareholders may still request paper copies of the proxy and voting materials by following the instructions provided in the notice.
EMC's 2008 Annual Meeting of Shareholders will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. EDT. For more information, please visit EMC's Investor Relations website at http://www.emc.com/about/investor-relations/index.htm.
