ComEd Celebrates Earth Day With Tree Planting and Other Volunteer Activities Around Chicagoland

CHICAGO, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- ComEd employees will celebrate Earth Day by participating in a variety of activities across Northern Illinois, including donating and planting trees in appreciation of the thousands of customers who recently enrolled in paperless billing and payment options.

ComEd employees will begin planting more than 100 oak trees donated by the company on Earth Day, April 22, at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Ill. The utility committed to donate one tree for every 100 ComEd customers who switched to e-Billing and direct debit during the month of March.

Encouraging employees and customers to volunteer at an eco-friendly event in celebration of Earth Day is part of ComEd's 12 Ways to Green campaign, launched earlier this year to raise customer awareness about energy efficiency and other environmental initiatives. The campaign is part of the company's comprehensive environmental strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower the carbon footprint of Exelon, its subsidiaries and customers.

"ComEd and our employees are demonstrating our environmental commitment by getting out in the community and participating in Earth Day activities, and we encourage all our customers to do the same," said Anne Pramaggiore, executive vice president of Customer Operations, Regulatory and External Affairs, ComEd. "But this is just one small part of what ComEd is doing to benefit the environment. We are walking the talk with an aggressive plan to be more energy efficient and lower our own carbon footprint in everything we do. For ComEd, every day is Earth Day."

In addition to planting trees at the Morton Arboretum, ComEd is participating in a variety of other Earth Day events around the Chicagoland area:
