SEATTLE, WA, April 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mantra Venture Group Ltd. ("Mantra" -OTCBB: MVTG-FSE: EDV 5MV) is pleased to announce the publication of a new research paper entitled "Electrochemical Processing of Carbon Dioxide" regarding the company's Electro Reduction of Carbon Dioxide (ERC) technology.
Written by the inventors of the ERC technology, Professor Colin Oloman and Dr. Hui Li, the paper was published in the European journal ChemSusChem, an interdisciplinary journal for research in chemistry and sustainable energy research. The publication of the paper is another important step in the development of the technology, which Mantra acquired from Professor Oloman in 2007. Professor Oloman is now member of Mantra's Scientific Advisory Board and will be helping Mantra to establish its new research facility in Vancouver, British Columbia. The paper abstract describes that "with respect to the negative role of carbon dioxide on our climate, it is clear that the time is ripe for the development of processes that convert CO2 into useful products." The abstract goes on to say that the process "may be carried out in a trickle-bed continuous electrochemical reactor under industrially viable conditions. Presuming the problems of cathode stability and formate crossover can be overcome, this type of reactor is proposed as the basis for commercial operation."
