HOUSTON, May 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Newfield Exploration Company and the Newfield Foundation today announced the donation of $50,000 to the Red Cross Society of China to help victims of recent earthquakes in the area of the Sichuan Province. Newfield's wholly-owned subsidiary, Newfield China, LDC, has been operating in China since 1997 and opened a Beijing office in 2006. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and PetroChina are Newfield's major business partners in China.

"Schools, factories, residential areas and highways in the earthquake affected areas have been severely damaged or destroyed. We want to make a difference for the better by helping people in these devastated areas with our donation."
