ARLINGTON, Va., June 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- FBR Capital Markets Corporation (FBR Capital Markets) today announced that Senior Managing Director John B. ("Jack") Maier II has been appointed Group Head of Financial Sponsors in the Investment Banking group.

Mr. Maier has been a Senior Managing Director and Co-Group Head of Mergers & Acquisitions since February 2007. Before joining FBR Capital Markets, he co-founded Legacy Partners Group, LLC in January 2003 and grew it to be a leading middle-market advisory firm. FBR Capital Markets acquired the assets of Legacy Partners in early 2007, and the team became the core of FBR Capital Markets M&A platform. Mr. Maier helped grow the M&A service in all of FBR Capital Markets industry areas.
Prior to Legacy, Mr. Maier was a Managing Director in Credit Suisse First Boston's M&A Group in New York and Co-Head of the firm's Global Exclusive Sales Group, joining CSFB when the company acquired Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. Maier also held positions at Wasserstein Perella & Co. and Drexel Burnham Lambert earlier in his career. Mr. Maier received a B.A. in Economics from Wake Forest University and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University, earning the distinction of University Fellow.
