GigOptix, the leading provider of electronic engines for the optically connected digital world and Teleoptix, experts in microwave MCM and hybrid packaging design and manufacture announce that they have signed an agreement that will have the GigOptix iT6135C manufactured by Teleoptix at their facility in Italy. Teleoptix is the latest contract manufacturer to be signed to partner with GigOptix in their continuing strategy to provide cost effective high performance solutions using an outsourced manufacturing model.
The iT6135C is a NRZ-to-RZ encoder and two-stage LiNbO3 modulator driver in a single package. It is optimized for 11.1 Gb/s ultra long-haul submarine and terrestrial optical communications networks. It is a complex hybrid design and is unique to the market in its level of integration and compact LCC SMT package. It maintains peak-to-peak jitter of < 8 ps over its operational temperature range and offers a high input sensitivity of 400 to 500 mVpp for data and clock inputs.
"The submarine applications that utilize the iT6135C demand the highest quality and reliability. We selected Teleoptix because of their long tradition in the development and manufacture of high reliability components and systems for Submarine Optical Systems. Starting from the raw materials, Teleoptix will perform turnkey assembly, testing and finishing operations. The manufacture will be performed to GigOptix' specifications and drawings with the finished units being drop shipped to our end customer's contract manufacturer," states Marc Correa, vice president of global operations for GigOptix.
The product being built through this partnership supports the ever growing production of transponders for submarine cable and long haul terrestrial communication networks. Leading system OEMs in Europe, US and the China, have seen a surge in demand in 2008. GigOptix made the decision to transfer the manufacturing of the part to Teleoptix as a contract manufacturer to satisfy this increased volume demand which is foreseen to continue through 2009-10.
"We are delighted to be part of the GigOptix Manufacturing strategy and supply chain," affirms Giovanni Farina, director of Teleoptix. "We can satisfy the manufacturing requirements for these products due to our long experience in high reliability microwave device manufacture and we are very excited to be able to support GigOptix' growth plans."
