SCHAUMBURG, Ill., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in DuPage County that expand network coverage and increase network capacity, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; and download games and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
The new cell sites improve Verizon Wireless' voice and data network in the following areas:
-- Darien and Woodridge, north to Plainfield Road, south to Westgate Road, west to Havens Drive and east to Kearney Road;
-- Elmhurst, north to North Avenue, south to St. Charles Avenue, west to Highland Avenue and east to Linden Avenue;

The new cell sites in DuPage County are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Illinois and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. Nearly $1 billion of this investment has been spent in Illinois since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $155 million in Illinois network improvements.
