Diverse Suppliers Are Encouraged to Attend Conference to Make Connections with NJ Utilities

NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Diverse suppliers are encouraged to register for an upcoming conference that will help them make inroads with some of New Jersey's biggest businesses.

The Supplier Diversity Development Council's Business Opportunity Conference will be held on September 23rd at the Pines Manor in Edison, and will help small, minority, women and service-disabled veteran owned businesses make the connections that will allow them to do business with some of the state's largest companies.

Attendees will have access to buyers from the state's largest utilities -- including water, electric, cable, and telephone companies. They will have an opportunity to network with other small businesses and the potential to meet one-on-one with supply chain representatives that are looking for specific products and services.

AGL Resources, AT&T, PSEG, JCP&L/First Energy, New Jersey Resources, New Jersey American Water, United Water, South Jersey Gas, Orange & Rockland and Verizon are among the utilities that will be represented.

"The BPU has been a leader on the issue of diversifying access to business opportunities within the utility arena to businesses owned by minorities, women and disabled veterans. These businesses offer unique skills and perspectives -- and so this conference is a great opportunity to bring MWBEs and the utilities together," said Jeanne M. Fox. President, NJ Board of Public Utilities.

Early registration provides participants with greater opportunities for one-on-one meetings. Go now to http://www.sddc-nj.org/ to register.

"This is a great opportunity for minority and women owned businesses to make connections with utilities," said Susan Hogan, president of the SDDC and supplier diversity manager for PSEG. "I hope that people will save the date, register early, and spread the word to their colleagues and business partners. The more people who attend, the more valuable the experience will be."

To make this year's conference part of your success story, register at http://www.sddc-nj.org/.

The Supplier Diversity Development Council (SDDC), chartered by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, remains committed to assisting small, minority, women-owned and service-disabled veteran owned businesses develop business relationships with the regulated companies throughout the state.
