United States Court of Appeals Upholds Ruling Favorable to AnalogicTech

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc. ("AnalogicTech" or the "Company") , a developer of power management semiconductors for mobile consumer electronic devices, today announced that the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a favorable ruling previously obtained by the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) for its charge pump product line.

In its ruling, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed the ITC's determination that U.S. Patent No. 6,411,531 ('531 Patent) owned by Linear Technology Corporation (Linear) is invalid over the prior art. The ruling left untouched the ITC's findings of non-infringement and lack of domestic industry.

"We are very pleased to see the favorable ruling to AnalogicTech by the U.S. Court of Appeals," stated Richard K. Williams, President, CTO and CEO of AnalogicTech. "The affirmation of patent invalidity combined with the earlier holdings of non-infringement and lack of domestic industry vindicates our long-held belief that our products do not infringe these intellectual property rights of Linear Technology. This ruling underscores the fundamental beliefs in and respect for intellectual property that our Company was founded upon."

AnalogicTech's lawsuit against Linear in U.S. Federal Court for business interference, trade libel, patent misuse, and unfair business practices is currently stayed. AnalogicTech believes that its position in this federal case, which involves the same '531 Patent, is enhanced by today's favorable ruling.
