Seeking development in standards has become the emphasis of China's IDC market in 2008H1. CCID Consulting's data shows the size of China's IDC market in 2008H1 reached 3.51 billion Yuan and forecasts that the market size in 2008 will reach 5.76 billion Yuan.

CCID Consulting's data shows that IDC service providers with 4 million Yuan income account for 62.1% of the total IDC industry; IDC service providers with 4-8 million Yuan account for 28.3% of the total IDC industry. Small and medium size service providers account for a large proportion in China's IDC industry.

In 2008, 13 ministries such as the Ministry of Public Security and MIIT jointly issued news rectifying the IDC industry; they will carry through cleaning the units, which do not have IDC licenses. Because they don't have ICP records, a batch of IDC service providers will close.
Reorganization Improves Interconnection
In May 2008, telecom reorganization set off. As for the IDC market, the interconnection of former Telecom and Netcom is restricting IDC industrial development. After telecom reorganization, professional IDC service providers have more choices, which is beneficial to developing services. On the other hand, more choices drive telecom-grade IDC enterprises to improve service quality so as to attract more clients. The IDC industry will soon enter service-oriented stage.
Enterprise IT Application Drives IDC Industrial Development
Because of various enterprises' IT application demands, IDC industry has had steady development in 2008. Tracing back to China's IDC development, we can see that with websites' rapid development, China's IDC has also had rapid development. More and more SMEs hope to make their transaction through websites. SMEs' network uses are not only limited in sending and receiving e- mail and propagating the corporate image, which means virtual host service couldn't satisfy SMEs' demands. Therefore, SMEs' IT application demands are gradually exuberant in future years, IDC's target clients will experience new changes; traditional enterprises will become IDC's major clients. IT outsourcing presents a specialized division of labor and provides all-around IT solutions to traditional enterprises. Another important factor is the appearance of CDN and CDN, which deal with network access speed. Web 2.0 and streaming Internet applications continue, e-commerce and Game websites are driving the rapid development of CDN in 2008, such as ChinaCache, ChinaNetCenter and Dnion Technology are in competition with carriers.
Value-Added Services Become the Competitive Focus
IDC products are mainly services, so by only finding market potential and releasing professional and individual services, IDC service providers could succeed in competition. IDC enterprises will add new services, such as SOC. These new products integrate security authentication, security assurance and so on; and they also integrate security software and hardware. HiChina has acquired national information security service qualification certification, which is hosted by the China Information Security Certification Center and National Computer network Emergency Response technical Team/Coordination Center of China. Because of this kind of certification and service, IDC enterprises make contributions to national network information security and network operation environment purification.
