RESTON, Va., Sept. 16 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Emerald Dairy Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: EMDY) today announced that the Company has passed the Chinese government's emergency inspection of its formula milk powder products triggered by last week's infant illness caused by Sanlu's products, and affirmed its commitment to product safety and quality.
Last week, it was reported that more than a thousand babies were sickened by contaminated milk powder produced in China, instigating widespread government inspection. On September 16, 2008, China's Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) revealed that it tested samples from 175 dairy manufacturers, and published a list of 22 companies whose products contained melamine. The Company is pleased to note its absence from the list.
Mr. Yang Yong Shan, Chief Executive Officer of Emerald Dairy, stated, "On behalf of the Company, I would like to offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to the parents of the children affected by subpar dairy products. As one of the leading infant formula manufacturers in China, we are committed to producing the best quality products and enforcing strict quality control measures within our processing facilities. Additionally, we obtained organic certification in February of this year as an industry leader in product safety and quality. We assure our consumers that the Company takes safety and quality very seriously, and this was validated once again in this week's AQSIQ inspection."
