Wireless Phone Users in Louisville Metro Now Experience Even Clearer Reception and Fewer Dropped Calls

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless has activated two new cell sites in Louisville Metro that expand network coverage, enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

The new cell sites improve Verizon Wireless' voice and data network coverage in Borden and New Providence, Indiana, as well as along the following major roads:

-- Intersection of Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) and U.S. Route 31 (Bardstown Road) in Louisville -- Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) between Bardstown Road and State Road 864 (Beulah Church Road) -- Beulah Church Road between Interstate 265 and Cedar Creek Road -- State Road 60 between Bennettsville and New Pekin (western Clark County, Indiana) -- Greenville Borden Road in western Clark County, Indiana

"Our customers choose Verizon Wireless and stay with us because we deliver on our commitment to provide the most reliable network," said Greg Haller, president-Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. "We'll continue investing in our network here in Kentucky and southern Indiana as well as across the nation so that our customers can rely on their wireless phones everywhere they go."

These new cell sites are part of Verizon Wireless' continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Kentucky, southern Indiana and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed -- $5.5 billion on average every year -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $250 million of this investment has been spent in Kentucky and southern Indiana since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $38 million in Kentucky and southern Indiana network improvements.
