                     Appointment of Non Executive Director                     

Bodycote Plc, the specialist thermal processing company, is pleased to announce
the appointment of Dr Krishnamurthy (Raj) Rajagopal as a Non Executive Director
with effect from 24 September 2008.

Raj was previously a main board director of BOC Group Plc and Chief Executive
of BOC Edwards. He has considerable experience of world class manufacturing,
engineering and technology. Raj is currently a Non Executive Director of Dyson
Group Plc and WS Atkins plc and was a Non Executive Director of Foseco Plc
until April 2008. He is a member of the Council of Science and Technology, the
Prime Ministerial advisory body, and plays an active role in Government science
and innovation policy and is a member of the Audit Commission. He is also a
Vice President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Raj worked at BOC Group Plc for 26 years. His career at the company culminated
with his appointment as Chief Executive of BOC Edwards and Executive Director
of BOC Group Plc in 1998. He started working at BOC Group Plc in 1980 as
Manufacturing Systems Manager with Edwards High Vacuum and then progressed
through various other roles including General Manager UK Manufacturing,
Operations Director and Managing Director before being appointed Managing
Director of the Vacuum Technology Division.

The appointment of Raj Rajagopal will further strengthen the Bodycote Board as
the group enters a new phase of its development, focused on its core Thermal
Processing business.
