Entertainmentfor All® Expo (E for All®), produced by IDG World Expo, concluded its second event on Sunday, attracting thousands of video game enthusiasts to the Los Angeles Convention Center for the ultimate entertainment experience. Throughout the three-day event, which was held October 3-5, 2008, approximately 15,000 hardcore and casual gamers, developers, retailers, students, media and other members of the game community were able to test-drive the latest video games and gadgets, and attend competitive video game tournaments and educational programs. The video game event also found ways to support the local Los Angeles community through a program featuring five gaming legends who came together to aid local foodbanks, and by serving as host to the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival.
"E for All 2008 was all about connecting great game companies with gamers and gamers with great games, and we're happy to report that the event was a true success in this regard," said Mary Dolaher, Chief Executive Officer of IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events and owner of E for All. "In addition to welcoming back great exhibitors, celebrity gamers and partners from last year, we added a number of new programs and special features for 2008 which truly added to the excitement and energy of the show. We want to thank everyone who participated in E for All 2008 and helped make it such a success."
The show offered fans the opportunity to get a hold of hard-to-find and IndieCade independent game titles, as well as access to the latest in video games from Target, the official retail sponsor of E for All. Key programs at E for All 2008 included the Game Developers Conference (GDC) Game Career Seminar, as well the inaugural "Gaming Bootcamp: Learn from the Pros," where participants learned video game tips and tricks from professionals such as Fatal1ty and representatives from GamingAngels.com and GamePro Magazine. Additionally, the show offered a range of tournaments including the 2008 World Cyber Games national finals which crowned 14 national champions who will go on to compete at the WCG 2008 Grand Final in Cologne, Germany, next month.
The show also hosted the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival which screened more than 70 animated and live action films and offered basic animation workshops to attendees. In addition, five of the industry's most recognized gamers came together as the League of Legendary Gamers to collect hundreds of cans at the event for the Los Angeles Food Bank for the upcoming holiday season.
