Members of Camp Pendleton's 1st Medical Battalion will put on their dress uniforms and gather for an enjoyable evening to commemorate the founding of the Marine Corps at the annual Birthday Ball.
The Birthday Ball, made possible through a $20,000 contribution from TriWest Healthcare Alliance, is Sunday, Nov. 2, at Pechanga Resort in Temecula, Calif. The event consists of a social hour, dinner, cutting of a ceremonial cake and dancing.
"President Ronald Reagan said, "˜Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the Marines don't have that problem.' The 1st Medical Battalion is just one example of those making a difference in the world," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "This contribution celebrates their commitment to providing expert medical care in the field and at home for our service members, while recognizing the birthday of this fine military organization."
The 1st Medical Battalion provides emergency treatment, temporary hospitalization, specialized surgery and evacuation of those injured in battle. The battalion has deployed three times.
TriWest's contribution is part of its support of the Department of Defense's November Warrior Care Month campaign. For more on TriWest's community outreach programs, please visit www.triwest.com.
