Before you hang up the stockings, trim the tree and brighten your home with tinsel and lights, make sure your home sparkles clean for your upcoming parties and guests, says Richard Sparacio, president of MaidPro. First impressions are vital; that is why MaidPro has recently revealed its holiday cleaning checklist so that holiday hosts and hostesses don't end up on Santa's "naughty list."
Sparacio suggests the following cleaning checklist:
- Tackle the Living Area and Bathroom First: These two rooms are probably the most used areas of your home when guests visit. Therefore, make sure they are the first rooms you focus on. In the living room, be sure that items are cleared from the floor. In the bathroom, put away items that guests don't need to see.
- Keeping the Kitchen in Tip-Top Shape: The kitchen requires a lot of attention because it is where the food is cooked, eaten and stored. It is also a heavily trafficked area of the home - which means continuous cleaning, Sparacio said. Keeping this area of the home free of clutter and organized is key to ensuring cooking goes smoothly and cleaning is made easier.
- Visible Laundry? That's a No-No: Dirty laundry, or even unfolded and disheveled laundry, is not a pleasant sight for your guests. Sparacio suggests area residents plan to do their laundry, folded and put away, long before guests visit - better for them to focus on your beautiful home than on your dirty laundry.
- Handling Fido's Track Marks: If you are planning a large holiday party or are simply inviting friends and family over for a small gathering, make sure your pet's toys and sleeping area aren't in the entertaining area. Use a pet-friendly deodorizer to make your home smell fresh and vacuum away pet fur on the carpet and furniture.
