Primavera Honors 11 Innovative Companies With 2008 Excellence Awards

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Primavera Systems, Inc., today announced the winners of the 2008 Primavera Excellence Awards, which were presented at the 25th Primavera Annual Conference. The Primavera Excellence Awards ceremony recognized customers that achieved outstanding results in project, program, resource and portfolio management. Each winner demonstrated clear benefits from one or more business initiatives that involved the use of Primavera software. The judging panel focused on overall business savings and improvements, and progress made in project management maturity.

The winners of this year's Primavera Excellence Awards are:

-- Allegheny Energy (Greensburg, PA) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for Power, Energy and Process category. Primavera enabled the Allegheny Energy Hatfield's Ferry Power Station project to be completed 17 days early and under budget by eight percent, helping increase profitability by nearly $4 million.

-- AMTRAK Engineering (Philadelphia, PA) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction category. AMTRAK's implementation of an Enterprise Project Management System utilizing Primavera P6, and the web-based version of Primavera has given its team members access and collaboration abilities that are critical to identify and solve project issues. This has enabled AMTRAK Engineering to meet the goals that federal, state, and local agencies have placed on the management of capital programs.

-- Alstom TMG Gas Turbines (Baden, Switzerland) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Manufacturing category. Using Primavera, the Planning Office of Gas Turbines R&D Programs designed and implemented a four-level planning concept that gives it the ability to control and report on work at different management levels. Approximately 100 people can now update their respective schedules remotely via the internet or directly via the client server depending on their role or responsibility.

-- Bovis Lend Lease (Sydney, Australia) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction category. Bovis Lend Lease is a leading international project management and construction company. Its investment in Primavera has enabled it to establish a central repository of programs in order to achieve visibility and transparency across global project delivery. Primavera has also provided Bovis Lend Lease with a system for planning and monitoring forward workload and reducing significant risks in skills shortages.

-- Duke Energy (Charlotte, NC) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for Power, Energy and Process category. Since implementing Primavera, Duke Energy has been able to enhance common processes and work practices driving success in over 45 different departments and improving the effectiveness of more than 800 unique resources. Expanded use of Primavera has enabled increased use of internal labor resources and improved Duke Energy's contract labor utilization.

-- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) - Air Traffic Organization - Finance Services (ATO-F) (Washington, DC) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Aerospace and Defense category. ATO-F is using Primavera as one of its core tools to manage the FAA's Corporate Work Plan (CWP). The Corporate Work Plan toolset is used for requirements identification, internal budget preparation, implementation planning, resource estimating, project tracking and performance measuring of Facility and Equipment (Capital) funded projects. In addition, ATO-F is in its initial stage of deploying Primavera to gain a more accurate insight into program reporting with its NextGen Program: The Next Generation Air Transportation System, which is the FAA's plan to modernize the National Airspace System (NAS) through 2025.

-- Froedtert & Community Health (Milwaukee, WI) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for Information Technology. Froedtert has used Primavera to successfully partner with the enterprise to align and prioritize work within strategic business objectives, manage related projects as a cohesive whole, develop and promote project management standards and methods, and deliver projects, training and support across the enterprise on-time, within budget and to scope.

-- INTEC Inc. /Technologies Department (Tokyo, Japan) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Information &Technology category. INTEC Inc. implemented Primavera through their whole organization and in all of their company projects just two years ago. Since then, they have gained visibility into projects across the organization. Now executives and program/project managers can get reliable schedule and resources forecast data timely and naturally, and can therefore make decisions to avoid project failure and collaborate with stakeholders.

-- MetroPower, Inc. (Albany, GA) was the winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction category. In 2001, MetroPower, Inc. and five of its employees began using Primavera Expedition as its contract management tool in one branch of the company. Now, MetroPower has approximately 500 employees in the company and has experienced better than 12 percent annual growth in revenues since 2001 while increasing profitability. The company now requires Contract Manager be used on all projects within all branches of the company. The Contract Manager program is now being used to a fuller extent and capability within the company, and is set up to correlate with Primavera P6 for all scheduling projects.

-- Military Health Systems, TRICARE (Falls Church, VA) was winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Public Sector. Using Primavera, Military Health Systems, TRICARE was able to automate its portfolio management process and achieve clear visibility into individual project components, seeing beyond the face value of all initiatives. Now, TRICARE can easily assign distinct ownership and accountability for existing projects, evaluate mature projects and determine if they remain worthy investments.

-- Transnet Capital Projects a Division of Transnet (Johannesburg, South Africa) was winner of the Primavera Excellence Award for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction category. Primavera was implemented by a global team to nearly half of Transnet Capital Projects employees who use Primavera to gain productivity, reduce project schedules and deliver projects on budget to the operating division via a direct link with the financial and planning systems. The single point data entry and transparency has significantly increased Transnet's reporting accuracy.

This year, more than 2000 executives, managers and project professionals attended the Primavera 25th Annual Conference, the industry's premiere conference for project, program, resource and portfolio management professionals. In addition to the Primavera Excellence Award ceremonies, attendees have participated in a wide array of technical and educational sessions, roundtable discussions, training sessions and networking events.
