For the 12 million U.S. children annually afflicted by chronic hunger, a new national campaign is underway to raise 4,000,000 meals this holiday season. Cascade Feeds America is a far-reaching goodwill program in which Feeding America (formerly Second Harvest) has joined forces with head judge of Bravo's hit TV series "Top Chef," Tom Colicchio, to shine a spotlight on the cause. The campaign kicks off with Colicchio cooking a holiday meal for NYC kids in need.
Consumers can visit http://www.cascadefeedsamerica.com/ throughout November and December to help. With just one click, web site visitors can help donate a meal to needy children through Feeding America's "Kids Cafe" program (the site will also showcase a signature holiday recipe created by Colicchio).
Up to four million meals will be donated to Feeding America's "Kids Cafe," one of the largest child-feeding programs in the nation. With 1,700 established Kids Cafes in the U.S., these networks offer children free food, as well as educational, recreational and social activities in their neighborhood.
