SonicWALL's NSA and TZ Series Awarded Fips 140-2 Level 2 Certification

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SonicWALL, Inc. , a leading secure network infrastructure company, today announced that the Network Security Appliance(NSA) and TZ series product lines have earned FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification from NIST (the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the United States FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Module Validation Authority) and CSE (the Communications Security Establishment, the Canadian FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Module Authority). FIPS 140-2 Level 2, the cryptography standard used by governments and industries worldwide now applies to SonicWALL's NSA E7500, E6500, E5500, 5000, 4500, 3500, and SonicWall's TZ 190, 190W, 180, and 180W.

FIPS 140-2 is a validation standard for evaluating cryptographic modules, and includes stringent source code reviews, algorithm, physical security, and operational testing on cryptographic security products. The United States Federal Government is required to purchase cryptographic products validated to the FIPS 140-2 standard. In the international marketplace, ISO19790 is being adopted as a world wide standard and is a direct adaptation of FIPS 140-2.

"SonicWALL's active participation in IT government security validations signifies the companies' commitment to providing users with solid product security." said Larry Wagner, Senior Director of Engineering at SonicWALL. "Achieving FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification on both the NSA & TZ Series product lines is a testimony to SonicWALL's strategy of providing critical network security for government and financial institutions."

SonicWALL's NSA Series appliances deliver file and content-based threat prevention at gigabit speed. Combining a powerful real-time and reassembly- free deep packet inspection firewall with multiple layers of protection technology and a suite of security services such as anti-virus, anti-spyware, intrusion prevention and content filtering, the NSA series appliances are designed for some of the most demanding deployments.. Favoritenwechsel
