Macro today announced the company is included in The Gazette of Politics and Business list of the 53 top businesses and organizations in the State of Maryland. The awards program, the first by the P&B Gazette, acknowledges the top 53 businesses and organizations in Maryland based on criteria that include the recipient company's annual revenue and employee growth as well as noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts and how the companies portrayed themselves as "a good place to work."
The first annual awards ceremony attracted a large crowd of attendees to celebrate the accomplishments of the top 53 companies. Speeches by David Edgerly, Director of Economic Development for the State of Maryland, key sponsor of the program, and Cliff Chiet, Publisher of the Politics and Business Gazette, preceded dinner and networking activities.
Mr. Edgerly stated, "I applaud these exceptional Maryland businesses that are consistently on the leading edge of innovation and doing their part to help through their pro-active community service programs. We owe a lot to them for the job creation they generate which helps keep Maryland at the top of the list of the best places to work in the country."
Macro International was recognized for exceptional growth during the last three years, as well as for community service programs including: raising money for HIV/AIDS and breast cancer research, supporting the Maryland School for the Blind, and a staff-inspired campaign to raise relief funds following the recent 7.9 R earthquake in China's Sichuan Province. The award also noted Macro's innovations in research, analysis, and social marketing that contribute substantially to positive health outcomes around the world. Dr. Greg N. Mahnke, Macro's President and CEO, commented, "Our staff members are dedicated to helping improve lives worldwide through work we do for the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. State Department, The World Bank, the National Institutes of Health, the Global Fund, and many more federal agencies and international health organizations. Their expertise and dedication drive all that we accomplish."
