"This award represents our dedication to providing our customers with superior service at the lowest delivered cost -- anywhere in the world," said Roger Bloemen, vice president of global supply chain, Saflex. The project focused on the development and implementation of an advanced mathematical optimization tool that takes into account all key supply chain processes, from the procurement of key raw materials to the distribution of finished goods worldwide. The model is used on a continuous basis to ensure the global asset infrastructure of Saflex maximizes its customer service while minimizing the required working capital and logistics costs.
"By utilizing the simulation tool, we are able to deliver the high level of service that customers have come to expect of Saflex, while adapting capacities to meet customers' evolving global demands and optimizing our operational cash flow," said Franky Veryser, European supply chain manager, Saflex.
The Supply Chain Award -- Project of the Year 2008 was presented by VIB (Vereniging voor Inkoop & Bedrijfslogistiek), PICS (PICS Belgium-Society for Integrated Supply Chains) and ABCAL (Association Belge des Cadres d'Achat et de Logistiques).
