DENVER, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines continued to set company records for performance as measured in the Department of Transportation's (DOT) monthly "Air Travel Consumer Report." The report details the operational performance of the country's 19 largest air carriers, including the 11 recognized major airlines. The DOT released its October 2008 stats earlier this week.
Frontier posted a company record for lowest mishandled bag rate (MBR) in October, ranking third among all carriers. The October performance record marked the fourth consecutive month in which Frontier has ranked among the top five major carriers for lowest MBR.
For the fourth consecutive month, Frontier ranked among the top three major carriers in on-time arrival performance. The 89.13 percent on-time performance reported by Frontier in October ranked third among the recognized major carriers and was less than a percentage point behind the monthly leader in that category.
Frontier ranked second among the major carriers in overall flight completion performance, or fewest flight cancellations, finishing just .02 percentage points behind the monthly leader. Frontier's October performance followed 16 consecutive months where Frontier led the major carriers in overall flight completion performance.
Once again, Frontier reported no flights on the DOT's list of chronically delayed or canceled flights (over 70% of the time).
