Johnson Controls Brings Ingenuity to Current and Future Vehicles, as Reflected at the 2009 North American International Auto Show

DETROIT, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Controls -- a major global supplier of automotive seating, interior systems, electronics and batteries -- is bringing ingenuity to the vehicles of today and tomorrow. This theme will be reflected at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at Cobo Center in Detroit, as the company showcases its latest products, systems, technologies and future concepts.

For the 15th consecutive year, Johnson Controls will have a major NAIAS presence, as both an event sponsor and exhibitor. Its 10,000-square-foot exhibit, in room D2-15 of Cobo Center, will be open to journalists and invited guests beginning Sunday, January 11, 2009.

In the company's exhibit area, Johnson Controls also will host two press conferences focusing on product innovations. The first press conference is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009, and the second press conference will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 10:35 a.m.

An overview of some of the products, technologies and concepts that Johnson Controls will showcase at the 2009 NAIAS event include:

-- The re3 concept vehicle, a small car, plug-in hybrid-electric vehicle prototype, which features room for five adults and is fully loaded with the latest Johnson Controls innovations in seating, storage systems, information-display technology, human-machine interaction, and renewable materials. -- Sustainable solutions for automotive seating. Innovations to be displayed include the lightweight Synergy Seat, which is comprised of recycled and natural materials and is nearly 100 percent recyclable. -- Seating foam made from natural oil polyols. -- Current- and future-generation batteries for conventional cars and trucks; as well as advanced energy storage solutions for electric, hybrid-electric, and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles. -- Other industry innovations in electronics, instrument panels, door panels, overhead consoles -- and more.

The re3 concept vehicle will be unveiled at the company's initial press conference on Sunday, January 11, 2009. A follow-up press conference on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 will focus on sustainable vehicle solutions and key Johnson Controls business updates.

The NAIAS event -- one of the world's premier automotive exhibitions -- opens to the media and industry officials on Sunday, January 11, 2009. It will be open to the public from Saturday, January 17 through Sunday, January 25, 2009.
