Haier Strengthens Its Position as a Global Brand

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Haier, the world's fourth largest white goods manufacturer and global consumer electronics maker, was ranked 18th in the "2008 Global Top 50 Consumer Electronics Brand" rankings unveiled by International Data Group (IDG) and Reed Business Information (RBI), confirming the Company's rise as a major global brand. Haier was also ranked 1st for the third time in a row in the "2008-2009 Top Brands from China". The rankings were unveiled today at the Consumer Electronics Show 2009 in Las Vegas, USA.

The rankings cover leading consumer electronic brands from the 4 areas of North America, Western Europe, Japan and Korea, and China. The candidates were assessed by third party data from IDG and Gardner\GFK, online voting on TWICE's global network of websites, and a final assessment by experts from famous international enterprises and patent institutes as well as the organizer's jury. The enterprises must show a clear concept of globalization and a strong desire to go global, and have detailed strategies for their brands to develop in overseas markets. Other criteria include global sales, R&D achievements and global brand awareness.

After enjoying strong growth in China in the late 20th century, Haier embarked on its internationalization campaign in 1999 with a "three-in-one" strategy: complete localization of design, manufacture, and marketing. Haier now successfully provides high quality and energy efficient home appliances, which are designed and manufactured in facilities all over the world, to over 160 countries.

As of 2006, Haier is focusing on building a global recognized brand that competes with the established global consumer electronics leaders. To achieve this goal, Haier commits to providing quality innovative home appliances that meet the ever-increasing demand for environment-friendly and energy efficient products.

Haier appears for the 10th consecutive year on CES, the world's largest consumer electronics tradeshow. On its 468 sq.m booth, Haier showcases 86 different products including a series of new TV products, such as the T1 series slim LCD TV which are 30 to 40 mm thick only; the HL47K LCDTV full-HD LCD TV with a Blu-ray DVD module; the HL42XK1/HL32XK1/HL32K1 energy-saving TVs, which consume 35% to 37% less power than conventional LCD TVs; and an iPod enabled TV, which can play video, audio and graphic files from i-Pod device via the iPod dock on the table stand.
