ATLANTA, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Assurant Solutions, a leading global provider of extended service plans and extended warranties, today reaffirmed its commitment to consumers who have purchased a Circuit CityAdvantage service plan. The company added that no action is required to confirm the validity of individual plans.
Assurant Solutions, which is part of Assurant, Inc. , said it administers most of the service plans sold through Circuit City and would assume responsibility for all CityAdvantage plans once Circuit City stores are closed. CityAdvantage plans are backed by Assurant Solutions member companies, including "A" rated American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida.
Assurant Solutions currently provides service plans to more than 56 million customers worldwide. Its programs cover a wide range of products, including home appliances, consumer electronics, motor vehicles, fitness equipment, furniture, jewelry, lawn and garden equipment, personal computers and wireless and mobile devices.
Joe Erdeman, executive vice president, Assurant Solutions and president of the extended service contract business, said the company understands that consumers may be concerned over some misinformation in the media. "Circuit City customers have no need to worry about their plans still being valid," he said. "Our companies will continue to provide them the same high quality, consistent service, regardless of Circuit City's outcome."
Assurant Solutions said it is not necessary for customers to call or email Assurant Solutions service centers to confirm the validity of their contracts.
To obtain service for a CityAdvantage plan, customers should use the phone numbers provided in their terms and conditions and listed below:
-- Personal computers, laptops, printers, digital cameras and other computer-related equipment: 1.800.555.4615 -- Televisions purchased after Dec. 1, 2006: 1.800.878.1167 (If a contract was purchased before this date, it is likely that another third-party provider is responsible for the contract.) -- MP3 players, CD Players, auto audio systems, and other consumer electronics items purchased after Dec. 1, 2006: 1.800.555.4615 (If a contract was purchased before this date, it is likely that another third-party provider is responsible for the contract.)
Additionally, carry-in service will no longer be available through Circuit City stores. Circuit City customers who subscribed to a plan that included carry-in service will be provided an alternative drop-off location for on-site service or shipping instructions to return items to an authorized service center.
"Circuit City was a valued partner for several years," Erdeman said. "Their customers can be assured that their extended service contracts have the backing of a financially strong company that prides itself in taking care of the customer."
