Cellcom Israel Announces Appeal Against Dismissal of a Purported Class Action

NETANYA, Israel, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cellcom Israel Ltd. (the "Company") announced today that in January 29, 2009, an appeal was filed with the Israeli Supreme Court against the dismissal of a purported class action against the Company (and another Israeli cellular operator) in December 2008. The purported class action was filed in the District Court of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa in December 2002, in connection with the defendants' incoming call tariff to subscribers of other operators when calling the subscribers of the defendants during the period preceding the regulation of interconnect fees.

If the claim is certified as a class action, the amount claimed from the Company is estimated by the plaintiff to be NIS 1.6 billion. The Company is studying the appeal and intends to defend its position.

For additional details see the Company's most recent annual report for the year ended December 31, 2007 on Form 20-F under "Item 8. Financial Information - A. Consolidated Statements and Other Financial Information - Legal Proceedings - Purported Class Actions."
