Chapter Management Award Given for Communication Efforts
The Dallas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) has been awarded a merit award for outstanding chapter management in communications. The award was announced at the Feb. 5-7 Leadership Institute conference in Orlando, Florida.
IABC’s Chapter Management Awards recognize the leadership abilities, management skills, creativity and teamwork of outstanding volunteer chapter leaders worldwide. Awards are presented in three divisions: small, mid-size and large chapters. Within those divisions are eight categories: membership marketing, professional development, financial management, leadership development, communication, branding, community involvement and student involvement.
Congratulating IABC Dallas on its awards, IABC President Julie Freeman, ABC*, APR**, said:
“IABC’s Chapter Management Awards highlight excellence in chapter management and leadership. These awards recognize IABC Dallas’ dedicated team of volunteer leaders and members for their commitment towards promoting the goals and objectives of the association at the local level.
Julie Songer, 2008 president of IABC Dallas said:
"A chapter management award helps chapter leaders measure the progress the chapter is making. This award is a testament to the great strides IABC Dallas is making and spotlights the hard work of last year's board of directors, namely Mary McMinn, ABC, director of communications and Richard Buse, director of technology."
IABC Dallas offers timely presentations and resources to meet the needs of its members and other professionals.
The chapter’s March 10 luncheon - Freelance Experts Panel - Surviving and Thriving on Your Own - features a panel of top Dallas-area communication experts who will share tips and tactics to help independent communicators establish and maintain their practices in a challenging economic environment.
Gayle Goodman, president of IABC Dallas, said, “Rising unemployment has created a new wave of communication professionals looking for and taking on freelance jobs while they search for permanent jobs so this event will address their current needs, also.”
The luncheon will be held at Popolo's Cafe, 707 Preston Royal Shopping Center and begins at 11:30 a.m. For more information or to register, visit www.dallasiabc.com.
