Pella named 2009 ENERGY STAR® Sustained Excellence award winner
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have awarded Pella Corporation a 2009 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership in protecting the environment through energy efficiency. Pella’s accomplishments will be recognized at a March 31 Washington, D.C., awards ceremony.
An ENERGY STAR partner since 1999, Pella will be honored for its long-term commitment to providing highly energy-efficient products, and the company’s comprehensive integration of ENERGY STAR information in media relations, consumer education programs, advertising, Pella Web sites and training.
Pella honored for third time
“Pella has earned the ENERGY
STAR Partner of the Year award for the past three consecutive years and
now proudly continues its environmental leadership as a Sustained
Excellence award winner in 2009 by providing sustainable solutions to
our customers and providing valuable information about how to save
energy,” said Elaine Sagers, vice president of marketing for the
privately-held company known for quality and innovation. “Pella
demonstrates its commitment to energy savings every day as we strive to
reduce our carbon footprint. Through lighting retrofits and more energy
efficient systems, we have reduced our electrical usage to the
equivalent of 4,036 tons of carbon dioxide emissions."
The 2009 Sustained Excellence Awards are given only to organizations that have been named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for three or more consecutive years. These winners have helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by setting and achieving aggressive goals, employing innovative approaches, and showing others what can be achieved through energy efficiency. These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program including energy-efficient products, services, and new homes and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Award winners are selected from more than 12,000 organizations participating in the ENERGY STAR program.
“The ENERGY STAR awards represent achievements the Department of Energy is proud to recognize as they represent notable progress or sustained excellence in working to secure our energy future,” said Richard H. Karney, DOE ENERGY STAR program manager. “In 2009, our partners receiving these awards demonstrated superb commitment to advancing the adoption of energy-efficient products and addressing environmental challenges.”
According to the DOE, with the help of ENERGY STAR, Americans saved $19 billion on energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 29 million vehicles last year alone.
