American Airlines Unveils New Look for AANegotiations.com

FORT WORTH, Texas, March 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines today unveiled a new look for AANegotiations.com, its Web site devoted to providing information and news about American's labor negotiations for interested employees, their families, media and the general public. The company updated the Web site based on user feedback regarding AANegotiations.com content and information.

The site, originally launched in 2007, is designed to increase the transparency of American's labor negotiations by providing a source for updates, communications and background on important discussions between the company and its labor unions. The site also provides details explaining American's competitive position, reference materials and links to other information resources related to labor negotiations in the airline industry.

"While each of our proposals are communicated first to union negotiators at the bargaining table, AANegotiations.com serves as a centralized resource for updates and information that has been previously provided or is publicly available," said Mark Burdette, American's Vice President - Employee Relations. "The site provides information about our goal to reach competitive agreements with our unions that takes into account our industry position.

"Throughout the site, visitors can see how we are working with labor leaders to address our many challenges and opportunities, exchange ideas and reach mutually acceptable agreements that serve the best interests of American employees, customers, shareholders and the many communities we serve," Burdette said.

Site Updates Reflect Users' Feedback

According to Burdette, American's goal is to keep the site current with frequent updates, new features and the latest information on both the company and the competitive landscape. That's why, in late 2008, the company collected feedback about the site voluntarily provided by users. Hundreds of users provided helpful insight into ways the company could broaden the site to further enhance its usefulness.

The newly refreshed AANegotiations.com gives users more and easier access to comprehensive contract information, pending proposals and updates on the status of negotiations with American's three labor unions. Throughout the site, data is presented in user-friendly charts and graphs to help better illustrate complex topics and subject matter.

As a result of user feedback, American in late 2008 launched "For the Record," an online column providing commentary from American executives and company negotiators. The latest updates provide easier access to comprehensive information regarding wages, pensions, work rules and health benefits. Additional AANegotiations.com enhancements include:

-- Information "At a Glance:" High-level summaries of important information with links to more in-depth material related to American's negotiations. -- Side-by-Side Proposal Comparisons: A comparative summary of company and union proposals on major issues. -- Tentative Agreements: Copies of tentative agreements reached in each contract negotiation. -- American's Proposals: Copies of American's proposals to its unions; the site currently includes proposals made to the Allied Pilots Association. Proposals to the Association of Professional Flight Attendants and the Transport Workers Union will be uploaded in the future. -- Mediation Schedule: A schedule of upcoming negotiations sessions by workgroup, as determined by the mediators. -- Anonymous Feedback: The ability to submit anonymous feedback about the site. -- Latest News: News highlights and upcoming event information for American workgroups. About AANegotiations.com

For the first time in the airline's history, American is in mediation with all three of its major unions simultaneously, the Allied Pilots Association, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants and the Transport Workers Union. American's AANegotiations.com provides information specific to each union-represented work group currently in contract negotiations with the airline and contains current and comprehensive information about the status of the company's labor union contract talks. The Web site is updated frequently and will remain active for the duration of negotiations with the company's unionized work groups. To access the site, or to sign up for and receive e-mail alerts when the site is updated with new information, please visit http://www.aanegotiations.com/.
