More than 1,000 construction industry leaders gather at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City for the 44th annual black-tie awards dinner tonight to honor Amadei and ENR's 25 Top Newsmakers.
Amadei has made a major impact on impoverished communities, young engineers, and the construction industry, changing industry's expectations for a motivated and enlightened workforce and assisting needy global communities. What began as an overseas field trip in 2001 for Amadei and his students is now a life-changing, global phenomenon, with 300 chapters and more than 12,000 student and professional members, who work with developing-world communities to install small-scale water, renewable energy, sanitation, housing, telecommunications, and other sustainable projects.
