EAST HANOVER, N.J., April 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Comverge, Inc. , a leading provider of smart grid, demand management, and energy efficiency solutions, announced today that several company officials and participants in its 2009 Clean Energy Users' Group Conference, being held next week in Houston, will kick off this year's event by taking part in hurricane relief efforts in Galveston, Texas. The region is still recovering from the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Rita in 2005 and more recently, Hurricane Ike in 2008.
This Sunday, April 5th, more than 20 representatives from some of the nation's top utility companies and industry experts will join Comverge staff and senior management, to help those displaced by these devastating storms. Through the daylong volunteer effort, the group will help refurbish a facility being utilized for temporary housing and provide landscaping for a future community center.
The annual Comverge Clean Energy Users' Group Conference is a must-attend event for the demand response industry. The conference agenda offers opportunities for Comverge's customers and partners to share ideas and learn through conference sessions, as well as casual networking and social events.
"This year, we wanted to offer attendees a full and worthwhile agenda once again, but for the first time, also sought out an opportunity for us to give back to the community," said Robert M. Chiste, Comverge's chairman, president and CEO. "We look forward to rolling up our sleeves this weekend to help make a difference in the lives of families hit hard by the natural disasters that struck not too long ago. Given the proximity of Houston to the Gulf Coast region and the amount of work that remains to be done there, we could not think of a better way to kick off this year's conference and show our appreciation to our host state."
