First Interface Solution to Meet All DDR3-800 to DDR3-1600 RDIMM Specifications at 1.35V to 1.5V in One Universal Register
SILEGO Technology, a fabless semiconductor company and Deloitte Rising Star Award winner, is dedicated to high quality, high performance and easy to design-in DDR3 register products. Silego today announced the industry’s first universal DDR3 register, SLGSSTE32882 that covers all DDR3 speed grades and voltage ranges with a single part. This capability allows DDR3 RDIMM manufacturers to save on qualification costs, reduce BOM cost, and reduce part number proliferation and the associated inventory.
The SLGSSTE32882 was designed for the highest performance at power consumption matching the best in the best in the industry. With over a hundred million PLLs shipped Silego leveraged expertise in PLL design for the lowest jitter, excess system timing and voltage margins by using an advanced 0.13um RF process that allows the operation of the register down to 1.2V. Wide performance margin increases final test yield, a universal product removes speed screening and the associated inventory costs, and an advanced BIST “built in self-test” features reduces test time allowing Silego to break the $2.50 price barrier.
“This attention to details results from Silego’s experience as the world’s top notebook clock supplier. Achieving extreme performance in noisy system environments at insane cost targets are everyday events at Silego,” said John McDonald, VP Sales and Marketing. “Further, as server volumes increase and memory prices collapse we believe that the SLGSSTE32882 is uniquely positioned to help our module customers and server manufacturers survive and thrive in this environment by passing on our product cost savings.”
For example, the SLGSSTE32882 when exposed to power supply noise common to many server platforms continues to perform well within specification. On the other hand, competitive DDR3 registers will pass power supply noise directly to the sensitive circuitry internal to the device and result in output clocks with up to 8x higher jitter. This feature improves the universal nature of the SLGSSTE32882 register by allowing operation within specification across the 100’s of server configurations including Intel’s Tylersburg and Boxboro platforms with Nehalem, Tukwila, and Westmere processors, thus reducing RMA and technical support costs. Finally, no product is truly universal unless it is priced to be universal. The SLGSSTE32882 is priced at $2.49 ea. / 10Ku and samples are available now. Please visit Silego’s website for more information http://www.silego.com/support.shtml and samples http://www.silego.com/samplerequest.shtml.
