Chosen Due to its Simple, Quick and Affordable Integration into Existing Technology Infrastructures
TechSmith Corporation, the world’s leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions, announced today that Drexel University has selected Camtasia Relay, the company’s newest lecture capture and presentation solution, as its campus-wide lecture capture solution. By integrating with an academic institution, business or conference organizer’s existing media servers and learning management systems, Camtasia Relay is an affordable solution for organizations looking to share knowledge in a multimedia format with students, customers and colleagues department-wide or campus-wide.
“Camtasia Relay is a natural fit for Drexel University from a variety of perspectives, and stands head and shoulders above any other available desktop recording applications,” said Dr. Mike Scheuermann, Associate Vice President of Instructional Technology at Drexel University. “The seamless integration with our Drexel-developed DragonDrop encoding, publishing and syndication system was a key factor for us, and that integration is a credit to the strong Drexel-Techsmith collaboration. We are confident that Camtasia Relay will enable instructors to do more, more easily, and allow them to focus on what really matters - effective delivery of their subject matter expertise and the rich dialogue and interaction that naturally ensues between educator and learner.”
Drexel University will be deploying Camtasia Relay as an enterprise-wide solution that will enable the over 1,500 faculty and administrators to streamline their lecture recording and sharing processes and give the 20,000 student population access to the many learning benefits of Camtasia Relay. Drexel is currently rolling out Camtasia Relay staff training as a portion of their beginning and intermediate training sessions for the popular on-campus screen-recording tool Camtasia Studio, also a TechSmith product.
“Drexel University has a long and successful history of integrating the latest technologies into the learning process to enhance learning outcomes and we greatly value them as a partner,” said Camtasia Relay product manager Rich Boys. “As early beta testers of Camtasia Relay, Drexel gave us valuable feedback to help us create an affordable lecture capture system that colleges and universities can quickly deploy, and that faculty, staff and students will want to use.”
Camtasia Relay is designed so instructors and presenters can easily record live lectures, learning objects, or presentations and publish them automatically so the videos are available in the highest-quality formats for a broad audience. Users can also edit their captured lectures and presentations with Camtasia Studio, which is already used by thousands in the education community.
With Camtasia Relay, instructors and presenters can use any PC or Mac in the classroom or conference room, at their desk, or at home. Audiences can view and listen to the recorded lectures and presentations online, via learning management systems like Blackboard, via iTunes U, or on mobile devices such as the iPod or iPhone. And with LDAP integration, IT staff can quickly and easily set up and assign recording profiles for their organizations based on the needs of the presenter and their audience.
