A program for persons looking to enter or change jobs in the workplace learning and development field will be held May 14, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., by the Greater Cleveland Chapter of ASTD. The event is free to members and non-members alike, however advance registration is required. The program will feature four panelists who will discuss and answer questions from different perspectives regarding the career field. Resume critique sessions, networking with professionals in workplace learning, local employers, and ASTD chapter representatives will be available. The event will be held at The Cole Center Auditorium at Cleveland State University, located at East 30th Street and Chester Avenue. Parking is available for a $5.00 fee at the Cole Center parking lot off East 30th. Featured panelists include Mike Aquino, a certified recruiter and career coach with MPA Companies, LLC; Linn Gahr, Regional Coordinator for the Ohio Skills Bank; Karen Lieske, CSU Career Services; and Wendy Schwarz, whose company is named Goddess of Networking. The Greater Cleveland Chapter of ASTD will be represented by Board Members Stephanie Steirn, Donna Rhodes, Terri Johnson and Dr. Bob Vaughn.
Additional tips on networking will be covered in the regular May meeting of the chapter when Phil Stella, president of Effective Training and Communication will speak on Effective Networking Strategies for Learning and Development Professionals. The Greater Cleveland Chapter of ASTD (formerly the American Society for Training and Development) will be celebrating its 65th year in Cleveland, and is one of the largest of 160 chapters in the country.
