Genesee & Wyoming Inc. Stockholders Approve Resolutions At Annual Meeting

GREENWICH, Conn., May 28, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) stockholders approved all resolutions at yesterday's annual meeting.

David C. Hurley and Peter O. Scannell were elected by the stockholders to the board of directors for three-year terms. Mr. Hurley has served as vice chairman of PrivatAir Holdings, S.A., a provider of corporate aircraft and aircraft management, since 2003. He has served as a director of GWI since 2005. Mr. Scannell has served as managing general partner of Rockwood Holdings LP, a private investment firm of which he is also a founder, since 1986. He has served as a director of GWI since 2003.

In other annual meeting business, the selection of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as GWI's independent registered public accounting firm for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2009, was ratified by the stockholders.

GWI also recognized the Honorable M. Douglas Young upon his retirement from the board of directors, after 10 years of service. Mr. Young did not stand for re-election as a director at yesterday's annual meeting, based on his nearing GWI's mandatory retirement age.

GWI owns and operates short line and regional freight railroads in the United States, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands and owns a minority interest in a railroad in Bolivia. Operations currently include 63 railroads organized in nine regions, with more than 6,800 miles of owned and leased track and approximately 3,000 additional miles under track access arrangements. GWI provides rail service at 16 ports in North America and Europe and performs contract coal loading and railcar switching for industrial customers.
