Multiplied Media adds people search to Poynt

CALGARY, June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Multiplied Media Corporation (TSX:V MMC), a Calgary-based provider of mobile local search services, today announces the addition of people search to its award-winning smartphone application, Poynt, in conjunction with WhitePages, Inc.

Poynt has become well known for its business and movie search features as well as the easy-to-use interface. The simplicity of the application is maintained with a new people search section dedicated to helping the more than 425,000 Poynt users in Canada and the United States find people near them. In addition to phone number look up by name and city, users are able to perform reverse look-ups by phone number and address from within BlackBerry(R) Call Log and BlackBerry(R) Address Book. The people search feature is fully integrated with BlackBerry Address Book to allow users to directly add contacts from within Poynt.

Integrating people search with the business and movie search functions of Poynt lets users find businesses, retailers and movies near their friends, relatives and colleagues. The mapping feature is also available to visually pinpoint an address or obtain driving directions.

"The ability to search for people is one of the most popular feature requests we receive from our users," said Andrew Osis, CEO, Multiplied Media. "This is an important step forward in expanding the breadth of information we provide to our customers. The addition of people search expands Poynt's functionality and the way users interact with it - providing the opportunity to find restaurants, shopping, fitness activities, movie showtimes and more near friends, colleagues and relatives. By partnering with WhitePages, the leader in People Search category, we are providing our users access to accurate contact information for over 200 million adults."

The Poynt application is available for the BlackBerry(R) Pearl(TM) and BlackBerry(R) Curve(TM) series smartphones, as well as the BlackBerry(R) Bold(TM) and BlackBerry(R) Storm(TM) smartphones and takes advantage of capabilities including locates by GPS* and cell-tower detection, click-to-call, click-to-map and click-to-view-website.

Poynt is a free application** and is available to BlackBerry smartphone owners in Canada, the United States and Germany. Poynt is available for download on BlackBerry App World(TM) or by visiting http://m.mypoynt.com/ from your BlackBerry(R) Browser.

* Requires a GPS-enabled BlackBerry smartphone. ** Wireless charges may apply. Please check with your wireless service provider. About Multiplied Media Corporation ----------------------------------

Favoritenwechsel
