(BMV: LAB) ("Genomma Lab" or "the Company"), one of the largest and most diversified Mexican companies in the pharmaceutical and personal care products categories, announced the acquisition of the personal care brand for men, Jockey Club. With this acquisition, Genomma Lab strengthens its presence in the personal care industry focused on gentlemen. The brand reported net sales of Ps. 32.6 million in 2008.
Jockey Club is a traditional and popular brand in Mexico. With registered sales since 1949, its product portfolio in the men's personal care products industry is widely-recognized in the market.
Genomma Lab's management is convinced that the synergies created with the introduction of the Jockey Club brand to the Company's business platform will have a high potential for increasing sales of these products in the short term and, will facilitate the development, repositioning and marketing of these products.
Genomma Lab paid for the transaction with its own resources at a multiple of 1.3x sales for 2008, for a total of Ps. 42.4 million.
