- Networkfleet Also Named Finalist for Best Commercial Application Award by Telematics Update -
Networkfleet, Inc. today announced that it has received the M2M Value Chain Silver Award in the Fleet Management category for customer BLS Trucking’s use of the Networkfleet wireless fleet management system to improve productivity. The award was announced at the M2M Connected World event in Chicago on June 11, 2009. A team of technology partners, including Cinterion Wireless Modules and AT&T, were recognized with Networkfleet and BLS Trucking for their part in delivering one of the most highly successful commercial applications of machine-to-machine (M2M) technology.
Based in Dayton, Ohio, BLS Trucking Inc. operates a fleet of 210 trucks within 75 locations throughout 14 states. BLS Trucking uses Networkfleet for GPS location tracking and engine diagnostic monitoring to gain a complete and accurate picture of its vehicle operations. By connecting directly to a vehicle’s onboard computer, Networkfleet enables BLS Trucking to collect precise information such as actual vehicle speed, exact diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and miles-per-gallon.
The Networkfleet system has helped BLS Trucking to:
- Reduce fuel costs on average $900 per vehicle in the first year
- Lower repair costs and reduce breakdowns on the road by setting up alerts based on mileage and real-time engine diagnostics
- Improve vehicle management, deter vehicle theft and document false claims by monitoring vehicle location 24/7
- Receive a return-on-investment (ROI) in less than one year. By the second year, BLS Trucking projected a savings of $220,000 in fuel costs alone.
The Value Chain Awards honor the most successful corporate adopters of M2M technology and the team of solution providers that made their success possible. The awards highlight the process of combining multiple technologies such as device-connectivity hardware, radio modules, network service and provision, as well as application software and infrastructure, and show how all of the elements of the M2M value chain created a winning solution for the end customer.
“We are honored to receive this award for helping BLS Trucking to improve efficiency and reduce costs,” said Keith Schneider, president of Networkfleet. “This award demonstrates our commitment to helping customers achieve the highest return on their investment in Networkfleet.”
Networkfleet was also a finalist for the Best Telematics Service & Application for Commercial Vehicles Award by Telematics Update, a leading industry publication. Finalists in this category were selected for their high standard of customer service, rapid application development and faultless integration and deployment in the commercial vehicle segment. The awards were presented on June 2, 2009, at the 9th annual Telematics Detroit 2009 Conference & Exhibition.
