AK Steel Announces Price Increases for Carbon and Stainless Steel Products

WEST CHESTER, Ohio, June 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AK Steel said today that it will increase spot market prices for all carbon and stainless flat rolled steel products.

Spot market prices for carbon steel products will be increased effective with all new orders for July and August shipments. Base prices for hot rolled products will increase by $60 per ton. Base prices for cold rolled products will increase by $70 per ton. And, base prices for all galvanized, galvannealed and aluminized coated products will increase by $80 per ton. Zinc coating extras have also been increased. Those extras can be found on the company's web site at http://www.aksteel.com/ under Markets & Products.

Spot market base prices for all 200, 300 and 400 series cold rolled and hot rolled stainless steel products are being increased effective with shipments June 28, 2009. The increase will be achieved through a reduction in the functional discount of two percentage points. Base prices for all automotive exhaust grades will be increased by $.02/lb. All surcharges remain in effect. The surcharges can be found on the company's web site.
