VANCOUVER, July 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Luna Gold Corp. (TSXV-LGC) ("Luna") is pleased to announce that Luis Baertl has been elected as a director of Luna.
Mr. Baertl is currently the President/CEO of La Ermita Ltda., a Chilean limited partnership involved in mining, agriculture and real estate. He brings extensive financial, business and technical expertise related to the mining industry both in Latin America and internationally, having worked and consulted for several mining and financial groups. Mr. Baertl was a founder of Peru Copper Inc. which was bought out by Chinalco for $840 million in August 2007. He was also previously Vice-President of Business Development of the base metals division for Billiton and BHP Billiton. Mr. Baertl was also Senior Vice-President Corporate Development South America for Barrick Gold. Mr. Baertl also has a strong finance background having served as the Vice-President Mining Head for the Southern Andean Region for Citicorp Citibank, as well as Western Hemisphere Mining Head and Vice-President Corporate Finance Chile for the Chase Manhattan Bank.
Luna Gold also announces that it has signed a consulting agreement with UP Communications Ltd. ("UPC") to provide investor relations services to the Company. Luna and UPC have signed a 12 month consulting agreement which requires Luna to pay UPC $7,000/month and Luna will grant options to UPC at a later date.
