Crawford & Company Chosen to Participate in Minority Legal Internship Program

ATLANTA, July 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Crawford & Company (NYSE: CRDA; CRDB), the world's largest independent provider of claims management solutions, has been selected to host a summer intern as part of a minority legal internship program sponsored by the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC).

"We are delighted to be one of the three companies chosen to participate in the program this summer," said Allen W. Nelson, Crawford's general counsel and chief administrative officer. "It is an honor to be part of the development of a legal student with so much promise."

Michael Urbina, a student at John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, was chosen from more than 60 applicants by the chapter's Outreach Initiatives Committee for the 10-week internship program for first-year law students with minority backgrounds. He is interning with Crawford's legal department in July. During that time, he is observing mediations and depositions as well as researching complex issues under the supervision of the Company's attorneys.

The ACC chapter seeks to diversify the internship experience by rotating students among three companies of different sizes and industries so they have the opportunity to perform many different kinds of meaningful and substantive legal services. This year's host companies in addition to Crawford are Invesco Ltd., an independent global investment management company based in Atlanta, and Kemira Chemicals Inc., worldwide specialists in water and fiber management chemistry with several Georgia locations.

Urbina was born and raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and moved to Georgia 10 years ago. He has been active in community groups in Atlanta and surrounding areas and helped to develop a program called Renovacion Juvenil to build character, leadership and communication skills among Hispanic teenagers. Urbina recently completed his first year of law school, finishing in the top 10 percent of his class, and is interested in practicing corporate law when he graduates from law school.
