American Airlines Selected to Latina Style's Top 50 Companies for Latin Women for Eighth Consecutive Year / Represented Companies Truly Demonstrate a Firm Commitment to Diversity, Even as Corporate America Dismantles Diversity Initiatives, Magazine Said

FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- For the eighth consecutive year, American Airlines has been selected as one of LATINA Style's Top 50 companies for Latinas to work for in the United States. The magazine's annual survey serves as the most respected source of employment and career information for Hispanic women.

"Every year LATINA Style carefully evaluates over 800 corporations to choose the 50 best companies for Latinas to work for in the U.S.," said Robert Bard, President & CEO of LATINA Style Magazine. "Our survey is a highly regarded source of employment and career information for Hispanic women in our country. The Selection Committee was impressed by American Airlines well-documented commitment to creating an environment where all employees can thrive. I congratulate American Airlines for their eighth consecutive year on the LATINA Style Top 50!"

Selected from a pool of more than 800 U.S. corporations, the Top 50 winners take on a new dimension this year in the face of a challenging economic climate, the magazine said. The companies represented truly demonstrate their firm commitment to diversity, even as others in corporate America reevaluate diversity initiatives.

"We are honored to have been selected among so many other respected organizations to the LATINA Style 50," said Denise Lynn, American's Vice President - Diversity and Leadership Strategies. "This analysis by LATINA Style magazine is one of the most prestigious looks at corporate America's efforts to promote diversity and provide career advancement opportunities for Hispanic women. We are delighted to be recognized for our accomplishments in this area, and we're committed to maintaining our focus on the professional development of Latina women within our company."

The results of the LATINA Style 50 were unveiled at a press conference today at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and will be published in LATINA Style's August issue.

The LATINA Style 50 Companies will also be honored on Feb. 4, 2010, during LATINA Style's Awards Ceremony & Diversity Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., and recognized at an exclusive awards reception at the White House. This year marks the eighth consecutive year that American has received the distinction.

The report will be distributed to Hispanic professional and civic organizations, national women's organizations, over 2,000 colleges and universities, all members of Congress, the White House, and members of the Cabinet, as well as at major Hispanic and recruitment conferences. The LATINA Style 50 is also a permanent feature on http://www.latinastyle.com/. This year marks the 12th anniversary of the program.
