SureWest Opens New Data Center / Product Line Delivers Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery in Kansas City Region

ROSEVILLE, Calif., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Leading independent communications holding company SureWest Communications today announced the completion of a new data center in Lenexa, Kansas. This marks the company's third equipment colocation and data center location for SureWest business customers in a seismically stable and secure facility.

Together with its two data centers in the Sacramento, CA region, SureWest's new center in Lenexa offers businesses another solid option for disaster recovery in a state-of-the-art facility. Secure, and power- and fire-protected, this facility is located in a stable location outside flood and earthquake prone areas. Business customers in the Kansas City region now have a local option for their data center needs. Customers in the company's Sacramento market seeking a geographically diverse option for their data needs will also benefit from this new facility.

"The new Kansas City data center helps address the existing demand among local businesses for disaster recovery and business continuity efforts," said Ed Butler, SureWest's executive director of commercial sales. "Our customers will now be able to take advantage of, and protect their networks with the very same infrastructure and environmental protections that we have in place to secure our own enterprise network."

By converting existing floor space in its Lenexa facility, and adding infrastructure and special environmental conditioning, SureWest has been able to accommodate additional colocation equipment for businesses. SureWest's network delivers connectivity to all the major carriers and the company's Sacramento data centers along with a unique scalability to accommodate large data requirements, including the potential for data replication and mirrored sites.

SureWest currently offers business customers in the Kansas City area an advanced network, highly reliable business products and customized solutions, and these data centers add a vital component to the business services lineup. SureWest's broadband business product line increased revenues 15 percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2009, and with the addition of the new data center, business growth is expected to continue at significant rates.

"Our business products continue to be one of the driving forces behind the overall growth of SureWest, due to our focus on the individual needs of each customer and our ability to deliver exceptional reliability, functionality and technology," said Butler. "Our goal is to provide our customers with one central, local contact for all of their business requirements. Our data center offering is one more way we can support their needs."
